Dr. Washington's Externship Program Information
Duration: 4 weeks Fee: $ 2,700
Opportunities for Externs include:
- Four week experience of US healthcare functioning
- Patient history assessment
- Case presentation
- Charting/SOAP note taking
- Participate in office procedures under the supervision of the attending
- Perform EKG, spirometry, and vaccinations
- Research and present a brief (2-3 minute) clinical presentation, weekly
- Letter of recommendation that reflects the above experience and any other strengths they may have or acquire during Externship
- Option available to attend didactics
Details:
- Participants are expected to provide their own lodging, transportation, and meals in Santa Clara, California USA
- Clinical hours are 8 AM to 12:30 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
- Externs are expected to attend a minimum of three of the 8 clinical sessions per week
- The Externs have no clinical responsibilities on Wednesdays or weekends
- Attire is business casual
- Participants should have a medical white coat and stethoscope
